Mannheim

August 18, 2021 Maxime got off of work early so we hopped on a tram to take a train into Mannheim. First we went to the University of Mannheim, which used to be a castle! Then we went to the more urban area and went into tkmaxx and other department stores to smell candles and feel blankets.  University of Mannheim Mannheim Jesuit Church Then we headed to the water tower there and walked around for a while. It was a beautiful park! Heilig Geist Church On the way back we saw a gorgeous church and then went to a park on the Rhine before going back to Heidelberg. Heidelberg - Part 1

August 15, 2021 Woah, 2 blog posts in 2 days?! I guess that's what happens when you walk an average of 7 miles a day! I got to sleep in the morning after landing, which was great. After breakfast we made our way to the old part of the city. It was so beautiful! There was a very long shopping road where we found a restaurant for lunch, then continued to the ruins of a castle, Schloss Heidelberg.  We took a tram to get up the mountain and had 30ish minutes before the tour in English started. We walked around the castle grounds while we waited and here are the views from up top! :) After the tour, we took the tram back down the mountain and walked more around the city.  Church of the Holy Spirit August 16, 2021 Today I was on my own. Frankfurt

  August 13, 2021 My parents dropped me off at the airport and my flight left at 11:30am!  I had a 3 hour layover in Dallas and then boarded a 9 hour flight to Frankfurt! It felt like eternity, but I finally landed after sleeping for a couple minutes here and there while watching The Incredibles and Frozen .  August 14, 2021 After landing, I found Maxime in the airport and we were off to explore the city!  breakfast lol Frankfurt Cathedral We decided to go to Palmengarten next, which was a long way from the heart of the city. It was well worth the walk and made me feel very at home. Who knew there were so many palm trees in Germany?! After making it back to the main train station, we waited for an hour while trains kept getting delayed and/or cancelled. We finally made it to Manheim after the train we were on kept stopping for extended periods of time while my eyes kept closing. Maxime woke me up every time haha.
